Hello and welcome to HurdleGurl’s Hub! I am so excited to start this community. If you don’t know me, I have 13 years of experience in track and field and 11 years of hurdle experience. Over the course of my high school and collegiate career, I have consistency dropped time in my competitions due to consistency and my determination to succeed. I am currently training for the 2021 Olympic Trials in the 100m hurdles.
2020 taught me a lot of lessons. When the world shut down and the Olympics were postponed, I had A LOT of thinking to do. Pursue the dream I’ve had since I was eight years old or hang up the spikes for good and start my career. There were many days and nights I had no motivation, no direction, and zero drive to continue pursuing this dream. I really had to lean on faith and my heart to know where I needed to go.
Which leads me to today. I decided I was not going to let the situation get the better of me, rather, make the most of the situation I was in. Since March, I have consistently seen improvements in my weight room maxes, shaved off time from my 30m, 55m, and 60m sprints, and lastly, watching the small changes take place in my hurdle technique.
My point here is this: When you believe in yourself and you have a dream, pursue it. We only have this moment to take advantage of every opportunity and I know with some faith and God’s tender grace, I will find my way.
Nobody wants to hear the dreadful words twenty-twenty ever again. But believe me, if you take some time to reflect on what the events of 2020 taught you, you may just find some peace in the state of uncertainty. 2020 was the year that taught me to not rely on the plans you make, only trust in the Lord to guide you.
My goal for this community is to inspire, network, and teach. Whether it is track and field mechanics, shooting a product video for your company, or simply writing about whatever is on my mind, I will do my best to give back to you!
When I’m not on the track, I work full time as a marketing and project manager for a Utah based running company. I hold a Masters Degree in Professional Communications and have a combined four years of marketing experience. I have always been a creative. Up until recently, I began to pursue my creative side more seriously through photography and wood burning. Check out my projects here or view some of my previous work here!
Lastly, thank you so much for visiting my site! I am so excited to see where 2021 takes us!
